DescriptionPhosphine, also known as phosphor or 15P, belongs to the class of inorganic compounds known as homogeneous other non-metal compounds. These are inorganic non-metallic compounds in which the largest atom belongs to the class of 'other non-metals'. Phosphine exists as a solid, possibly soluble (in water), and possibly neutral molecule. Phosphine exists in all eukaryotes, ranging from yeast to humans. Phosphine is a potentially toxic compound. Phosphine has been found to be associated with several diseases known as cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis and fructose intolerance, hereditary; also phosphine has been linked to the inborn metabolic disorders including glycerol intolerance syndrome.
