These are hydroxy acids with a 6 to 12 carbon atoms long side chain. 7-Hydroxyoctanoic acid, with regard to humans, has been found to be associated with the diseases such as colorectal cancer; 7-hydroxyoctanoic acid has also been linked to the inborn metabolic disorder medium chain acyl-coa dehydrogenase deficiency. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 7-Hydroxyoctanoic acid.
